GS1 Kenya breaks ground to build a regional office in Konza Technopolis

 GS1, a global leader in provision of barcodes and RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) to ensure traceability and data management solutions, has broken ground at Konza Technopolis to build their regional offices. This groundbreaking of the 1.1 acres project reflects the organization’s vision of becoming the leading center for traceability and data management across all sectors in Kenya and the region.

“We are thrilled to see GS1 breaking ground, this is a bold step towards securing their future by establishing the regional office here in Konza Technopolis. Our investors enjoy a seamless set up process with the ready infrastructure – electricity, water, roads, internet etc.  We are now in the next stage where investors can construct their projects and pursue their organizational goals in the smart city,” Konza Technopolis CEO John Paul Okwiri said.  

The building, a prefabricated structure with a unique Global Location Number (GLN) identifier, exemplifies GS1's commitment to precision and innovation. It has also earned the esteemed Green Edge Building Certification, emphasizing its adherence to sustainable and environmentally friendly construction practices.

The construction is expected to be completed before the end of 2025, with operations scheduled to begin within the same year. The facility will initially engage 23 employees, with plans to onboard an additional 25, bringing the total workforce to 48.

Through this project, GS1 aims to set a new benchmark for operational excellence while contributing to the technological ecosystem at Konza. As the organization grows, its regional headquarters will serve as a vital resource for industries seeking innovative supply chain and data solutions.

This development marks a significant step forward for GS1, reinforcing its leadership in the industry and underscoring its dedication to sustainable growth and innovation.
