Launch of Nairobi County Multisectoral Coordination and Collaboration Forum on Peace and Security

In a joint effort to enhance peace and security across Nairobi County, the Ministry of Interior and National Administration, in partnership with MIDRIFT HURINET and the National Steering Committee on Peace Building and Conflict Management, has officially launched the Nairobi County Multisectoral Coordination and Collaboration Forum on Peace and Security.

The forum aims to bring together government agencies, civil society organizations, community leaders, and various sectors to foster collaboration, improve communication, and strengthen early conflict resolution efforts within Nairobi. The event featured speeches from representatives of the Ministry of Interior and National Administration, MIDRIFT HURINET, and the National Steering Committee on Peace Building and Conflict Management, who highlighted the forum's critical role in promoting sustainable peace solutions.

Speaking at the event, Nairobi County Commissioner David Wanyonyi emphasized the importance of active information sharing between security agencies and community stakeholders. He urged increased involvement of youth in peace-building initiatives and stressed the need to build trust among communities to create long-lasting, sustainable solutions for peace in Nairobi.

The forum’s key objectives include fostering social cohesion at the grassroots level and implementing proactive strategies to address potential conflicts before they escalate. Through this collaborative framework, the initiative hopes to enhance communication among stakeholders and strengthen Nairobi’s resilience in maintaining peace and security across all sectors.
