Mama Doing Good, Huawei Kenya and CFSK Partners to Empower Over 500 Women in Meru County with Digital Skills

Meru County, Kenya 21st November 2024

Mama Doing Good, in collaboration with Huawei Kenya and Computers for Schools Kenya (CFSK), has successfully conducted a week-long digital skills training program, benefiting over 500 women in Meru County. This initiative aims to empower women in rural areas with essential digital skills, enabling them to actively participate in Kenya’s rapidly growing digital economy.

This program supports the Kenyan government’s ongoing efforts to expand digital infrastructure and improve digital literacy across the country by equipping citizens with the skills needed to utilize government digital hubs like Jitume Labs. The initiative ensures that rural populations are not left behind in the country’s digital transformation.

The Meru County training program addresses the significant digital skills gap in rural areas, focusing on empowering women to access new opportunities in employment, entrepreneurship, and community development.

Following the success in Meru, the program will be expanded to all 47 counties, ensuring that women across Kenya can benefit from this empowering initiative. A Huawei Kenya representative noted that the collaboration reflects a shared commitment to driving Kenya’s socio-economic development by equipping individuals with the tools they need to succeed in the digital age.

By addressing the unique challenges faced by women in underserved communities, the program exemplifies the importance of partnerships in bridging Kenya’s digital divide. Through their combined efforts, Mama Doing Good, Huawei Kenya, and CFSK are ensuring that no one is left behind in the country’s journey toward digital inclusion and empowerment.
