Dr. Kanyoro Patrick Emphasizes Policy Reforms for Industry Growth at Kenya Chamber of Mines Silver Jubilee Dinner

    December 20, 2024, Nairobi, Kenya
The Kenya Chamber of Mines celebrated its Silver Jubilee in a grand dinner event that brought together industry leaders, government officials, and stakeholders to commemorate 25 years of excellence in the mining sector. The event, held in Nairobi, was marked by a series of awards honoring individuals and organizations that have made significant contributions to the growth of the industry.
Dr. Kanyoro Patrick, Chairman of the Kenya Chamber of Mines, delivered a keynote address highlighting the progress made in the mining sector over the past quarter-century. In his remarks, Dr. Kanyoro emphasized the need for the formulation of robust policies to propel the industry to greater heights.

"While we celebrate the achievements of the past 25 years, it is imperative that we focus on creating more comprehensive and favorable policies to sustain and accelerate growth. These policies should not only attract investors but also ensure the inclusion of local communities and promote environmental sustainability," Dr. Kanyoro stated.

He noted that the sector has witnessed remarkable growth, with a significant increase in the number of players entering the industry in recent years. This, he said, underscores the sector's potential as a cornerstone of Kenya's economic development.
The event also recognized several trailblazers in the industry for their exceptional contributions. Awardees included industry pioneers, companies championing sustainability, and individuals driving innovation and inclusivity in mining practices.

Dr. Kanyoro concluded by urging stakeholders to collaborate in addressing challenges such as regulatory hurdles and infrastructure deficits. "Together, we can create a mining industry that not only drives economic growth but also uplifts communities and safeguards our environment," he said.

The Silver Jubilee Dinner was hailed as a milestone event, setting the stage for continued progress in Kenya's mining sector. As the Kenya Chamber of Mines enters its next phase, the focus remains on building a resilient and globally competitive industry.
