Cabinet Secretary Announces Historic Release of 2024 KCSE Results Amid Major Education Reforms

In a landmark press briefing at New Mitihani House, South C, Nairobi, Julius Migos Ogamba, EBS, the Cabinet Secretary for the Ministry of Education, unveiled the 2024 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) results. Speaking before key education stakeholders, including Principal Secretary Dr. Belio Kipsang, Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) Chairperson Prof. Julius Nyabundi, and Teachers Service Commission Chair Mr. Jamleck Muturi, the CS highlighted the transformative changes underway in the education sector.

For the first time in over three decades, the secondary school system faces a massive overhaul, heralded by the phased implementation of Competency-Based Education (CBE). This shift marks the exit of the last cohort of traditional KCSE candidates in 2024 and the absence of a Form One intake in 2025, leading to a leaner Senior School structure comprising Form Two to Form Four. The CS emphasized the need for urgent preparations to support the inaugural cohort of CBE learners, currently in Grade 9, as they transition to Grade 10 by 2026.

The 2024 KCSE results symbolize the beginning of the end for an examination system that has shaped Kenya’s education landscape for 35 years, with the final KCSE exams slated for 2027. The CS commended multi-agency collaboration, which ensured the seamless administration of this year’s examinations, thanking all education stakeholders for their dedication and commitment to excellence.

As Kenya embarks on this journey of educational transformation, the Ministry pledged to prioritize readiness for the incoming CBC pioneers while ensuring a smooth transition for students, teachers, and institutions nationwide.

Kenya Dental Association Condemns KMPDC Over Alleged Misregulation of Dentistry.

The association accuses the KMPDC, under the leadership of its chairperson Prof. Stanley Khainga , of ignoring its mandate to ensure that Kenyans access the highest attainable standard of healthcare. KDA warns that this misstep poses a serious threat to patient safety and public health, potentially leading to ...
