Nationwide Rollout of Inua Jamii Payments via Mobile Money Agents.

Joseph M. Motari, CBS, Principal Secretary, State Department for Social Protection and Senior Citizen Affairs.

The State Department for Social Protection and Senior Citizen Affairs has officially announced the migration of all Inua Jamii beneficiaries to the E-Citizen-M-Pesa payment platform. This transition, which begins at the end of this month, is a major step toward enhancing accessibility and efficiency for social welfare recipients.

The E-Citizen platform, in collaboration with Safaricom, will facilitate payments, enabling beneficiaries to access their funds conveniently through M-Pesa agents. Beneficiaries can utilize the USSD code *222# to access these services.

Principal Secretary Joseph M. Motari, CBS, emphasized that this exercise is completely free of charge and aims to protect vulnerable citizens from fraud. He also clarified that the minimum payout for each beneficiary is KSH 2,000.

To ensure a smooth transition, all beneficiaries must ensure their Safaricom lines are registered and linked to their ID cards. Those with active M-Pesa accounts will not need to purchase new lines, while those without M-Pesa lines can register at any Safaricom or M-Pesa agent nationwide.

Beneficiaries seeking further assistance can visit County/Sub-County Social Development Offices, Children Services Offices, or Disability Offices. Alternatively, they can call the Inua Jamii toll-free line 1533 for inquiries.

This transition highlights the government's commitment to leveraging technology to streamline social protection services, ensure financial inclusion, and safeguard the integrity of welfare programs.
