Lagos, Nigeria and Nairobi, Kenya, 10th June 2025.

GoVote, a civic initiative powered by Co-creation Hub (CcHUB), has announced a strategic partnership with the Open Institute to strengthen democratic participation across East and West Africa. The collaboration aims to build resilient civic ecosystems by enhancing citizen awareness, accountability, and long-term engagement in governance beyond election cycles.

Through this alliance, both organizations will equip civil society organizations (CSOs), human rights defenders, policymakers, and public officials with tools and knowledge to foster inclusive democratic processes. The partnership will leverage digital platforms like GoVote.ng and community-driven initiatives such as Somo Africa to bridge information gaps and promote participatory decision-making.

At a time when democracy faces growing challenges, this East-West Africa collaboration represents a critical step toward building inclusive, tech-enabled, and people-centered governance systems.

At GoVote, we are focused on helping citizens understand their role in shaping governance and leveraging digital technology to strengthen democracy,” said Ewoka Yvonne, Senior Programmes Manager for Elections and Governance at CcHUB. “This partnership with the Open Institute allows us to take this mission further by fostering sustained civic engagement.”

The Open Institute brings extensive experience in open governance and grassroots mobilization, complementing GoVote’s work in empowering citizens with data-driven insights for informed voting decisions.

We are excited to collaborate with GoVote to scale meaningful civic action and governance reform,” said Loise Mboo, Chief of Staff and Director of Team Wellness at the Open Institute. “This partnership is about strengthening democratic institutions, CSO networks, and stakeholders by giving them the information and agency to influence change.”

The initiative will prioritize:  Expanding access to governance-related content, promoting transparency and innovation in public accountability, strengthening community-based participation in Kenya, Nigeria, and beyond.

As part of CcHUB’s broader commitment to advancing civic resilience in Africa, GoVote continues to drive governance reforms and active citizenship. This partnership underscores a shared belief that empowered citizens are the cornerstone of thriving democracies.
