DNA Unveils Joab Manyasi as Candidate for Crucial Malava By-Election.

Hon. Joab Manyasi, Malava Constituency candidate under DNA.

Nairobi, Kenya,  August 1, 2025:

The Democratic National Alliance (DNA) officially launched its campaign for the upcoming Malava Constituency by-election today, unveiling Hon. Joab Manyasi as its standard-bearer during a ceremony at the party's Karen headquarters.

Party Leader Hon. Godfrey Kanoti presented Manyasi to supporters and the media, framing the candidacy as more than just an electoral bid. "We are offering not just a candidate, but a movement," Kanoti declared, emphasizing DNA's commitment to "inclusive representation and servant leadership." He expressed confidence that "the people of Malava are ready for a new chapter of leadership that puts their aspirations at the heart of governance."

Hon. Manyasi, a respected civil engineer, youth advocate, and public servant with deep roots in Malava, brings significant local experience and a history of contesting the seat. He previously ran for the Malava parliamentary position in 2017 under Ford Kenya and again in 2022 under the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM). His professional career spans roles in both Kenya and Uganda.

In his acceptance speech, Manyasi passionately connected with his origins and the constituency's struggles. "I come from the soil of Malava," he stated. "I have walked the same roads, stood in the same queues, and experienced the frustration of unfulfilled promises. The people of Malava need a leader who will listen." He pledged to be a dedicated voice for ordinary citizens, particularly highlighting farmers, women and youth.

Manyasi vowed to prioritize the needs of Malava residents, promising, "I am ready to work for the people of Malava, and I will work hand in hand with the DNA Party to ensure that their voices are not just heard, but acted upon." He positioned the campaign as a fundamental shift: "This campaign is not just about votes, it’s about voice, dignity, and real development."

The DNA has committed to running an "issue-based campaign grounded in grassroots dialogue, civic education, and constituency-wide engagement." Kanoti stressed that Manyasi "embodies the values of our party" and brings "experience, grassroots insight, and a people-first agenda" to the race.

The event concluded with the symbolic handover of the party’s emblem to Hon. Manyasi, officially launching his campaign. His unveiling marks a significant step in DNA's strategic expansion efforts within Western Kenya and reflects the party's broader mission of "nurturing homegrown, accountable leadership."

The by-election follows a vacancy declared by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC). While the exact date is yet to be announced, it is expected to be scheduled later this year. Hon. Manyasi and the DNA now turn their focus to convincing the voters of Malava that he is the candidate to deliver tangible change and representation.

Kenya Dental Association Condemns KMPDC Over Alleged Misregulation of Dentistry.

The Kenya Dental Association (KDA ) has strongly condemned the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC) over what it terms as misregulation and illegal handling of the dental profession. In a press release dated April 10, 2025, the KDA expressed deep outrage and disappointment following the publication of a new Scope of Practice for Dentistry by KMPDC, which the association claims is unlawful and dangerously undermines the quality of oral healthcare in the country. According to the KDA, the scope in question allows unqualified para-professionals to engage in dental procedures without appropriate curriculum-based training or the necessary competencies. The association accuses the KMPDC, under the leadership of its chairperson Prof. Stanley Khainga , of ignoring its mandate to ensure that Kenyans access the highest attainable standard of healthcare. KDA warns that this misstep poses a serious threat to patient safety and public health, potentially leading to ...
